Although the clock is better than a plastic blank in the dash, it's not much better. Due to its location high on the dash, it is very hard to read on a bright day. If it did indeed had an integrated outside temperature readout, it might be worth adding to a '97 -- but it doesn't. Unless you are desperate for a clock, I wouldn't recommend spending the $133 for the upgrade.
Update (03/2004): The clock stopped working last month. I checked the wiring and determined there wasn't a fuse specifically for the clock (everything else was working). The center vent just pulls out (I used a stiff wire to hook the vent along the sides) allowing full access to the clock and its wiring. Using an ohmmeter, I found the clock was getting power.
The price for a new clock had gone up to $180! Geez. I called some local salvage shops, a few said they had them, asking price was $45-$65. Searching the internet, I found a used one for $25 at M&M Service & Salvage Yard. They shipped it promptly and now my CRV has a working clock once again...although it's still too dim in bright light (grin). The best site I found for a nationwide salvage parts search is http://car-part.com/.
