Building a Honda CR-V Pickup

So, how did I do that?

I started by taking pictures of my CR-V with a digital camera. Some pictures were to be candidates for the base picture, the others for various pieces I'd need.

Here is the base picture I used.

The beginning.
I eliminated the spare tire carrier, filling the right hand side of the tailgate. The hinge also had to go. The license plate should be placed down in the bumper, but I kept it in the tailgate more in the tradition of the El Camino.

Mirroring the muffler was simple enough, but I decided the tires looked too small, and the vehicle needed to be raised up--complicating the work underneath.

Probably the most difficult part was the bumper. I started working on one end, but the rest remained a major puzzle. I also did a bit of chopping on the top just to get an idea what it might look like as a pickup.

Finished up the tires and most of the surrounding space.

Decided to work both ends of the bumper and had a good idea what I was going to do with the middle.

Looking more like a pickup.
Lots of work on this one. I finished up everything below the bumper. Best of all, the bumper is mostly done, but it didn't look quite right.

Searching through my collection of shots, I found good bits for the tail lights and pickup top. Hey, how do you like the four tail lights? It certainly would have been easier to have left them on the cab.

After lots of erasing, blending and bluring, the various bits and pieces start to look like they belong together.

I saw a pickup with a pass-through window and decided my CR-V pickup wouldn't be complete without one. Since I didn't have a picture of one, the pass-though was mostly built from scratch, as was the third brake light and bed lights.

Damn, that bumper is still bugging me.

Had a change of heart about the license plate and did some clean up here and there.

Finally figured out what was bothering me about the bumper and moved the highlight way over to the right.

So, how long did that take? Well...those trees in the background no longer have any leaves on them.

Update: Decided the stock mufflers looked to tame and reworked the third brake light. Also added a trailer hitch and Apple sticker.

That's it!
