Honda CR-V 1998 EX AM/FM/CD/Cassette

Review

Since I listen to books-on-tape, I was disappointed a combination AM/FM/CD radio would be standard in the US market CR-V EX. To listen to tapes, I would either have to replace the unit or spring for the $289 (installed) cassette player. I decided on the stock Honda radio and cassette unit.

Although I'm still not happy with the high price of the cassette player, I have warmed up to the units. The radio is pleasantly devoid of buttons--bass, treble, balance, fade are all controlled with a mode button and the volume control. The CD player will remember where it was on the disc and will continue playing where it last stopped (at least until the disc is ejected). The manual states the radio will also control an added disc changer.

For security, a code must be entered for the radio to work after it has been disconnected from the power supply. There is also a red light which blinks when the ignition is off, indicating the radio has a "anti-theft" system.
