Thank God for Online Shopping!

Since work is absolutely handing my ass to me right now, xmas shopping has been impossible.

But the e-commerce gods have smiled on me. Online stores finally figured out how to take and fulfill orders around the holidays, saving my christmas (or more accurately, the christmases of those people i'm buying gifts for). anyway, there is nothing more fun than putting in a grueling 12 hour day, going home, shoveling some food in your mouth and sitting down, totally fried and unable to remember your name, and doing some shopping!!!!

as much as it sucks, it is still better than the alternative.......what would we do without the internet?

Don't mind the dust around here...

The NY Times recently published an article discussing some reasons why apartments in brownstones sell at a discount relative to apartments in big doorman buildings. Listed among the factors was the fact that in a brownstone you don't have a concierge, or elevator (usually), and it is such a pain to carry your luggage and groceries up and down the stairs. Boo hoo.

Lately I've discovered one more factor to add to the list - the health hazard caused by construction going on in the building next door. You see, most brownstones are old. Old buildings have lots of holes in them. They are not hermetically sealed like some of today's buildings. They are drafty, they are not level, they don't heat or cool well and they make weird noises.

And when the demo crew is next door pounding on the walls so hard that it sounds like the world is ending, you are bound to end up with a layer of dust on everything you own. This has been happening to us every day for the past few weeks. We go to work, leaving behind a clean apartment, and come home to an apartment with a fine layer of dirt on everything. We wipe down all the furniture, the counters, and whatever else we can before we pass out from exhaustion. The next day, we do it all again.

We've spoken to the foreman in charge of the work and he is perplexed. He claims that they have the building sealed up tighter than a drum. That may be, but this old house has got some leaks; and unfortunately those leaks are springing clouds of dust into my apartment. If you'll excuse me, I must be off to start round 12 of my month of dusting...

Chinese Food

It's impossible to truly appreciate good chinese delivery food in NYC until you are stuck without it. 6 months after moving into my "new" apartment, I FINALLY found a chinese food place that delivers delicious food quickly. Thank you Chef 28!!!! You have restored my faith in humanity.........

Guess who's back

Much like Jay-z (minus the new album and 75 commercials), I'm back. I decided that I'm going to start posting again on a regular basis. There is much work to be done on the format, structure and look of the blog. Check back in every once in a while. Don't be a stranger.....good stuff coming.....unless work beats me into the ground again

With the 20th pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, the NY Knicks select...

ROLANDO BLACKMAN!!!!! I thought he retired, but it's still a step up.....wait, WHAT? We got Renaldo Balkman?

RENALDO BALKMAN?!?!?!!!!! WHAT THE !@#$%^$#!!! is that???

I think Isiah realizes he is done here and just tanked the draft as a big F you to the Knicks. You know you've screwed the pooch when Stephen A. can't find words to describe the pick. Even Isiah Thomas Apostle Spike Lee looked beaten down. It is very tough to be a Knick fan these days.....more tomorrow on this...I'm too disgusted to even write about this right now.

update: at least Isiah followed up his stellar first round choice with another PG....one no one's really heard of. Let's just hand Greg Oden to the Bulls right now...

we suck....

Seriously......and, can we get rid of Dave O'Brien and Marcelo Balboa....talk about the ultimate B team of soccer announcers.

If Univision offered an HD broadcast, I would definitely watch those guys.....

ugh. I'm disgusted right now....we got smoked
