I'm tracing my father's side of the family and have run out of solid leads. My G-G-Grandparents moved from Jonesboro GA to Cusetta in Cass County (east) TX between 1856 and 1857 (est). I'm trying to find information on THEIR parents. There are several partial geneologies on the internet that are promising but they all conflict. I hope that someone else has information about Nolens in Henry County, GA that we might share.
Here is the most solid information I have [based on family histories, 1870 federal census for Davis (now Cass) county TX, marriage records in GA and two pages from a family bible of about 1870]: My G-G-Grandfather, Thomas A Nolen (b. 1826) married Susan Ball (b 1827) on October 12, 1848, in Jonesboro (then Henry County) GA. His brother, Jeremiah F. Nolen (b June 5, 1822 in GA; d November 30, 1872 in Cass County TX) married Martha Ball (b March 24, 1824 in GA; d October 14, 1871 in Cass County TX) on April 6, 1843 in Jonesboro. While still in GA, Thomas and Susan had two children, Nancy L (b 1850) and Sarah (b 1853). After arriving in TX, they had two sons, Rosemond Doyal (1859-1936) (my G-Grandfather) and James A (b 1862). Jeremiah and Martha had three children in GA, Benjamin Thomas (1844-1864), Columbus Washington (b 1847) and James Quincy (his initial was listed as A in the 1870 federal census, but the family bible has it as Quincy). After arriving in TX, they had two more children, Susan J (b 1854) and David Jackson (1859-1879). A family tree has been registered with Family Tree Maker and at GenCircles.com.
Any information you may have to share on Nolen (Nolan) and Ball would be appreciated.
